Strategy: Winning the House

Winning the House

Democrats need to flip 9 Republican-held toss-up seats to win back the House majority. Our California focus districts are key to reaching that goal.

The Path to 218

To win the House majority (218 seats), Democrats need to hold 205 safe seats plus 4 toss-ups, and flip at least 9 of the 14 Republican-held toss-up seats. Every competitive district matters, and California has several of the most winnable targets.

Options for Where to Work

Our primary focus is on California's Central Valley districts where Indivisible volunteers can make the biggest impact:

  • CA-13 (Adam Gray) — Top priority. One of the most competitive districts in the country.
  • CA-22 (Rudy Villegas) — A key flip opportunity in the Central Valley.
  • CA-45 (Derek Tran) — Orange County district with a strong Democratic challenger.
  • CA-48 (Julie von Wilpert) — Another competitive Orange County seat.
